Ketchup Entertainment Acquires U.S. Rights to ViQueens

ViQueens has secured a U.S. distributor. Ketchup Entertainment has acquired the film’s U.S. theatrical distribution rights and is planning a wide release for our Norwegian animated adventure.

The agreement is signed, giving ViQueens a U.S. theatrical partner ahead of its Norwegian premiere on Christmas Day. Ketchup Entertainment is also behind the U.S. release of Coyote vs. Acme.

For us, this is an important milestone after several years of work on the film. International sales are handled by Sola Media, and ViQueens has already been sold to a number of European markets.

The U.S. marketing campaign is also underway. Producer and co-writer Veslemøy Ruud Zwart told Norwegian news agency NTB on September 7 that the trailer had been shown in approximately 3,000 U.S. cinemas over the preceding weekend.

The scale of the film’s theatrical release remains an estimate. In an interview with Finansavisen on September 11, Veslemøy cited approximately 2,500 screens as the initial estimate provided by the distributor. The final number may change.

ViQueens has a production budget of approximately NOK 80 million. Most of the production has taken place in Norway, with Gimpville and OPC Megaphone as key partners, alongside production work in the United Kingdom.

With the U.S. agreement in place, the film takes another step towards international audiences. We look forward to introducing more people to Ingrid, Hedvig and the characters our team has been working on throughout production.

ViQueens opens in Norwegian cinemas on December 25, 2026. Further details about the U.S. theatrical release will be announced later.
