At Lofotr Viking Museum, we introduced the Norwegian voices of ViQueens. Dagny Norvoll Sandvik and Isalill Kolpus play Ingrid and Hedvig, joined by a cast of actors and comedians.
Borg in Lofoten was a natural place to bring members of the cast together. Its landscape and history have inspired the world of the film — and the starting point for Ingrid and Hedvig’s journey.
ViQueens marks the first time Dagny and Isalill have voiced characters in an animated feature film. Dagny brings her experience as a recording artist and songwriter to the role of Ingrid. Isalill, known for stand-up comedy and the Norwegian panel show Nytt på Nytt, voices Hedvig.
They are joined by Truls Svendsen as King Erik, Kristofer Hivju as Uncle Lars, Snorre Monsson as the Bard and Marit Adeleide Andreassen as Helga. Together, the Norwegian voice cast brings experience from music, comedy, film and television.
The visit to Lofotr was also a chance to explore the world that inspired the film. The day before the press launch, actors, filmmakers and partners toured the museum and sailed aboard a Viking ship. The day ended with a group read-through of the screenplay in the feast hall of the Chieftain’s House.
For us, it was a lovely way to bring the team together, with the story in the script and its setting just outside the door.
Museum Nord has provided historical advice throughout the development of ViQueens. The collaboration has given us insight into Viking society and everyday life as a foundation for creating the film’s own adventure.
We now look forward to audiences hearing the Norwegian voices and meeting the characters on the big screen.
