Carter Goodrich, Peter de Sève and Joachim Barrum are among the character designers working on ViQueens. Together, they help shape the cast of characters in our Norwegian Viking adventure.
Before characters can be animated, their appearance needs to be developed. Character design involves defining their faces, body shapes, proportions and the features that make them recognisable. Carter Goodrich, Peter de Sève and Joachim Barrum are part of this work on ViQueens.

Carter Goodrich was a lead character designer on Ratatouille, Brave and Despicable Me. His work also includes The Croods and Hotel Transylvania. Alongside his film work, he is an illustrator and children’s book creator, and has drawn numerous covers for The New Yorker.

Peter de Sève is particularly well known for his character designs for the Ice Age films, including Scrat. He has also contributed to films such as Mulan, Tarzan and Robots. Like Goodrich, he has an extensive career as an illustrator, with many covers for The New Yorker.

Joachim Barrum also contributes as a character designer on ViQueens, drawing on experience in animated films, games and illustration. On Flåklypa – Fra Paris til pyramidene, he was production designer and art director, responsible for developing the film’s visual style. He has also created concept art for Kaptein Sabeltann og grevinnen av Gral. For the game Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley, he contributed cinematics, animation and marketing illustrations.
The three designers help develop the figures audiences will meet, from the protagonists to other characters encountered along the journey.

ViQueens features Viking girls, royalty, seafarers and people from different parts of the world. Their varied shapes, facial features and costumes help make the cast distinctive and recognisable.
We look forward to showing you more of the characters and the artwork behind ViQueens.
